Rocky Heads to Africa!
April to July 2025

Between us we’ve been lucky enough to travel to 17 African countries over the years for both business and pleasure. We’ve loved experiencing Africa for its stunning landscapes, incredible wildlife, rich cultures and unforgettable experiences that offer both thrilling exploration and a deep personal connection. For this latest 2.5 month adventure we’ve decided to ship Rocky out to Walvis Bay in Namibia and put him through his paces on a journey through Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe. We’ll be flying into Windhoek and travelling west to the port at Walvis Bay to meet Rocky. We’ll then visit Sandwich Bay on the Skeleton Coast and head south to the world’s largest sand dune ‘Big Daddy’. Here we’ll meet up with our friends Jonathan and Claire. We’ll then wend our way up to Etosha National Park and east to Botswana. At the top of the amazing Okovango Delta we’ll leave Jonathan and Claire and travel east along the Pan Handle and down into Zimbabwe for some time in Hwange National Park. From there, we head north to the Victoria Falls and meet our friends Janet and Chris. Then we all travel back into Botswana to Kasane where they pick up their vehicle and we head off to explore the south eastern area of the delta. Then it’s a drive south to experience the Ntwetwe Salt Pans and their famous Baobab trees. The home-straight heads us back west to the port at Walvis Bay. We say goodbye to Chris and Janet at Windoek on the way – and we say goodbye to Rocky as we pack him back onto a container ship destined for the UK.

Touring Northern India
November to December 2024

We've both visited India before, Nick has been several times for his work, and so to an extent we know what to expect but this is going to be something quite different.  Jen is the daughter of our good friends Chris and Janet. She's getting married to Pranav - or PK as he is known. The wedding is in Jaipur and we've been invited! It's going to be amazing and excitement has been mounting for months. We've decided to take the opportunity to extend our trip either side of the wedding and tour northern India; we start in Amritsar in the west and end up in Kolkata to the east and by the end of our trip we'll have visited sixteen places! We'll see cities, mountains, temples, forts, palaces, deserts and so much more.  We aren't taking a vehicle this time and we are handing over the logistics to our trip organiser, Ravindra of Tailor India Tours.  We've worked with him to create a customised tour to take us to some amazing places that we've never visited before.

Iceland in RockyAugust & September 2024

If we've learned one thing from our adventures in Lionel it is that we want more! We arrived home from our big Spain, Portugal, Morocco trip not having cured ourselves of the travel bug in the least, on the contrary we are planning the next trip even before we've unpacked Lionel. We've bought and adapted a 4x4 truck we've named 'Rocky' and we're off to Iceland! We'll be driving to northern Denmark and then making a two day and night ferry crossing to Iceland via the Faroe Islands. Our plan is to explore the wild and remote highland areas, which can only be done in a 4x4 vehicle, so equipped with a roof tent and warm clothing... what could possibly go wrong?

Spain, Portugal & Morocco
November 2023 to March 2024

Our four month trip to Morocco and back, started in November 2023. We caught the Portsmouth to Santander ferry and headed down to the Algarve to visit our friend Gill and her son Alex in Tavira for Christmas when our girls flew out to join us for a week.  We then headed to Morocco and drove to the edge of the Sahara Desert before finally heading back north to Santander at the end of February 2024. The beauty of motorhoming is the flexibility.  Having studied the weather forecast, we decided to head to the warmer climes of Spain’s Mediterranean coast and work our way down to Portugal. On our return journey, we headed up the west coast of Portugal, back into Spain and through to Santiago de Compostela then on to Santander via the Picos de Europa National Park.
