The road out of Taghazout hugs the coastline and not long into our journey we come across an area of sand dunes. Intrigued, we stop to take a look. The area is home to the Timlalin Dunes - a 900 ha area which has been designated a Site of Biological and Ecological Interest for its flora and fauna. Before we head off to Tiznit, Nick decides to take Millie on a walk - or rather, some fairly serious rock climbing! Known as 'The Surfboard' - a huge granite rock platform sticks horizontally out into thin air. At about 200 metres high - this is definitely not something for the faint-hearted! We're heading a short distance from Icht, to the village of Amtoudi, it's a tiny and unremarkable place save for the fact that it boasts not one but two Amazigh agadirs - fortified granaries used to store food, water and valuables. Now we're talking! As a birthday treat for Janette, Nick has come up trumps and booked us in to a lovely riad for the night just outside Zagora in a village called Amazraou. This is a lovely place, peaceful and surrounded by a beautiful garden and beyond that a palm grove. We all, dogs included, have a lovely time lolling about in the sunshine in the garden. We would have done this too as we did last time, but for the fact that we couldn't get dog-friendly accommodation on the Portsmouth - Santander ferry.
